Preventative Dentistry
Teeth cleanings remove plaque and build up on the teeth that can cause gingivitis and decay. Fluoride treatments are also available to renew the fluoride content in the enamel and strengthen teeth and prevent cavities. After the cleaning, we will polish your child’s teeth so that they shine!
Dental radiographs are taken when necessary to evaluate and monitor your child’s oral health. X-rays detect much more than cavities; they may be needed to survey erupting teeth, diagnose bone diseases, evaluate the results of an injury, or plan orthodontic treatment.

Regular dental examinations are important in order for your child to have good dental health and a smile of which he or she can be proud of. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that your child should see a pediatric dentist when the first tooth appears, or no later than his/her first birthday.
A check-up every six months is recommended in order to prevent cavities and other potential dental issues. Regular dental visits will help your child stay cavity-free and allow for ongoing assessment of changes in your child’s oral health, including orthodontic problems.

We offer a range of restorative services that will be tailored to your child’s specific dental needs. Whether it be from trauma or cavities, a treatment plan will be formulated to best suit your child. Our services include mercury-free white fillings, crowns, root canals, extractions, space maintainers, and much more.

For our more anxious friends, nitrous oxide, also known as ‘laughing gas’, is a safe, effective sedative agent used to calm a child’s fear of the dental visit and enhance effective communication. Nitrous oxide is a combination oxygen and nitrous oxide. We administer the gas through a small mask placed over your child’s nose for the duration of the treatment. Nitrous oxide is perhaps the safest sedative in dentistry. It has a rapid onset and is non-allergenic. It is quickly reversible and eliminated after a short period of breathing oxygen and has no lingering effects!

Dental sealants protect the grooved and pitted surfaces of the teeth, especially the chewing surfaces of back teeth where most cavities in children are found. Sealants ‘seal out’ food and plaque, thus reducing the risk of decay.
Research shows that sealants can last for many years if properly cared for. Therefore, your child will be protected throughout the most cavity- prone years. If your child has good oral hygiene and avoids biting hard/sticky objects, the sealants will last longer.
